PRESS RELEASE: Senator Jim Inhofe receives George Washington Award, AFP's highest national award

News Release______________________________________________________________________________For Immediate Release – October 15, 2008                                                                                      Contact: Stuart Jolly, AFP-Oklahoma State Director (405) 514-0514  Senator Jim Inhofe receives George Washington Award,   AFP’s highest national award Americans for Prosperity Applauds Senator Inhofe's Comprehensive Economic Recovery Plan Washington, D.C. – Senator Inhofe was awarded AFP’s highest national award this past weekend for his courage to stand up against global warming alarmists.  He received this prestigious award at AFP’s “Defending the American Dream Summit” in front of 1,300 AFP activists from 38 states including 51 activists from Oklahoma. “Sen Inhofe has taken the hot air out of global warming, and we appreciate his leadership on this lightning rod issue and taxes.” says Stuart Jolly, AFP-Oklahoma’s State Director.  “It shows his dedication to the American taxpayer.” We also want to praise Senator Inhofe for standing strong against big government and higher taxes.  At a time when our nation's economy is at its weakest, Senator Inhofe has the courage to say no to hasty bailout plans and to push for real solutions. His plan is upheld by the tested free-market principles that AFP continues to fight for and that have fueled our economy for more than 200 years which are now under attack. His plan will restore a fiscal conscience in Washington, create more jobs, ease the tax burden on hardworking individuals, and encourage more savings and investment. Senator Inhofe offers substantive solutions to address the very real economic problems Americans are facing here and now while making sure that we do not place the burden on our children or grandchildren. AFP applauds Senator Inhofe's call to offer tax deductions to struggling homeowners rather than risky government buyouts, and we support his proposal to incentivize savings in retirement accounts to help get our nation out of debt. We urge Congress to act on his idea of eliminating the capital gains rate and repatriating foreign earnings which will inject more capital investments in our market.  Again, congratulations to Senator Inhofe in his selection to receive AFP’s George Washington Award.  It’s well deserved. Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a nationwide organization of citizen leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans. AFP educates and engages citizens in support of restraining state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits.
