WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity Foundation-New Hampshire (AFPF-NH) is announcing today that the town of Windham will save $100,000 due to the application of recommended changes that stemmed from an audit the organization conducted on town finances.

“Americans for Prosperity Foundation-New Hampshire is pleased that the town of Windham will save $100,000 as a result of the audit we conducted,” said AFP Foundation-New Hampshire State Director, Corey R. Lewandowski. “We commend the Windham Board of Selectman for making our recommended changes that will yield such significant savings for the town and its residents.”

The audit conducted by AFPF-NH last year exposed excesses in overtime pay and benefits that were unnecessarily draining town finances.

“We are proud of the results of our audit in Windham and hope to be able to produce similar results for other towns around the Granite State,” Lewandowski added.

People of the Granite State Deserve a Vote on Tax Increases

WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) New Hampshire is urging members of the New Hampshire Senate to pass CACR 6, a proposed Constitutional Amendment that would require a 3/5 majority vote of the legislature for any increase in taxes or fees without an amendment that would alter the bill.

“The people of New Hampshire deserve a say in how their tax dollars are spent and how and if their taxes can be raised,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire. “We support CACR 6 as passed by the House because it returns more control to the taxpayers in this state about how and if their taxes can be raised. Additionally it makes it more difficult for New Hampshire taxpayers to be burdened with the political whims of the legislature which might be tempted to increase taxes to pay for their spending programs.”

Should N.H. "bureaucrats" have to go to the legislature before expending funds to see whether they want to join a low carbon fuel standard compact?

Cory Lewandowski, state director of Americans for Prosperity and a strong supporter of the bill, said HB 1487 would prevent "state bureaucrats" at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services "from entering a program that will cost the state money," Lewandowski said such programs could increase the price at the gas pumps and in grocery stores.

However, some of the state's bureaucrats are pretty good, said Science Technology and Energy Committee Chair Rep. James Garrity of Atkinson, and if the 10 other northeastern states adopt a "liquid Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative" it might not be such a bad idea to have some of them do what they can do.

"It would be less ugly if we were at the table," he said.
