CONCORD – A fiscally conservative interest group will launch its second direct mail attack in a week against Senate President Peter Bragdon, R-Milford, over legislation to repeal the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

The postcard mailer going out Tuesday to all registered voters in Bragdon’s new Senate district features a picture of Bragdon and President Barack Obama and asks what the two have in common.

“Senator Peter Bragdon wants to keep NH utility ratepayers trapped in this job and economy destroying scheme that sends NH jobs to China and India and other states that are not part of this job killing scheme,” the mailer says. “Tell him you support an end to NH’s participation in cap and trade.”

The New Hampshire chapter of Americans for Prosperity sponsored the mail piece on the RGGI program; a similar one sponsored by the same group was mailed out at the end of last week.

WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) New Hampshire is releasing a new radio ad today detailing the negative effects of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, also known as RGGI, on NH businesses and residents.

“This radio ad is part of our ongoing effort to repeal this failed cap-and-trade scheme and remove this unnecessary burden from NH businesses and residents,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire. “NH ratepayers are calling for relief and we are hopeful that their legislators in Concord will heed that call.”

The 60-second spot, “Pull the Plug on RGGI” is airing on WGIR.

The House has requested a Committee of Conference on HB 1490 which the House passed in March and the Senate passed as amended earlier this month.

“RGGI has meant higher rates, lost jobs and less freedom,” added Lewandowski. “The time to remove NH from RGGI is now.”

“We applaud the Senate and House leadership as well as the members in both bodies who voted in support of CACR 13 for their efforts to ensure that this measure reaches the people,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire. “Thanks to their passage of CACR 13, New Hampshire voters will now have the final say on whether or not an additional tax can be levied on their personal income.”

CACR 13 was approved today in the Senate by a vote of 20 to 4. The legislation passed the House in January.
