Taxpayer Advocacy Group Applauds State Senate for Passing HB 1233,
Calls on Governor to Sign

PIERRE – Yesterday, the South Dakota State Senate approved House Bill 1233 by a vote of 20-14.  This was an important victory for the taxpayers of South Dakota and their ability to better know what is going on in their government.    

“The members of Americans for Prosperity- South Dakota would like to thank the State Senate for their support of open and transparent government,” State Director Duane Sand said. When the voters and taxpayers are afforded a better knowlegde of what is going on in their government, they will inevitably be better informed and educated when it comes to election time.”

The bill now goes to Governor Rounds to either sign or veto.

“We certainly hope the governor will support open and transparent government.  We are aware that the governor is not all that enthusiastic about the idea, but we hope he will follow the will of the people who, through their representatives, have already spoken on the matter,” Sand concluded.
