Thank You Letter from AFP State Director Jolly

Good Morning!
What a great weekend we had in DC last week!  The Defending the American Dream Summit seems like a year ago, and, at the same time, yesterday.  It was by far the best event I have ever attended...and I hope you feel the same!  I wanted to send this email out to you today to say "Thank You" to the 65 Oklahomans that attended the Summit and provided such a large show of force in DC representing the thousands of AFP-OK members back here in Oklahoma.  I know many of you were wondering if we beat TX, KS, MO, and AR...well, the numbers aren't in yet, but I do know we exceeded KS, MO, and AR easily with our 65 attendees, but TX said they were going to be close to that number, so we'll have to wait see.  I'll let you know.
I sincerely hope everyone made it home safe and sound.  I haven't heard anything to the contrary, so I'm assuming everyone made it back....tired, I know, but ok.
Before I get too far into this email, I'd like to send a huge "thank you" to our many donors that made this trip possible for so many Oklahomans to attend.  If it weren't for you and your generous donation, none of this would have been possible.  Thank you for your support and please continue to assist AFP-OK in its efforts to make a difference in Oklahoma.  Most of our donors wanted to remain anonymous and that's fine with us.  I just wanted you to know that every AFP member you assisted says Thank You!
We've already started our planning for next year's Summit in DC and a "mini-Summit" right here in Oklahoma.  Every state has been tasked to execute a "mini-Summit" leading up to the National Summit for later in 2008.  With our aggressive legislative agenda on defeating Taxpayer-funded Lobbyists, eliminating the Franchise Tax completely, and passing a meaningful School Choice reform bill, we'll have little time to do anything else, so help where you can.  Our Grassroots Workshops around the state are keeping us hopping and our membership is one of the fastest growing memberships in the nation.  Thank you for your support and keep us in your prayers!
The Summit provided so much information, and to hear 7 presidential candidates really made a difference.  Hearing them live and hearing them on the news is two different things.  I have a much firmer grasp of all the issues and where each of the candidates stand on our fiscal issue policies than I did before.  Giuliani was fantastic in my opinion (once he moved away from talking about NY).  He was really sharp on the fiscal issues bandwagon.  His jokes were really funny!  Romney, who spoke during the Tribute to Ronald Reagan Dinner was flawless.  I thought his presentation was very smooth and seemed very presidential.  I went to the back room and met with Gov Mike Huckabee and was equally impressed with him.  He truly is a good person and genuinely cares about people.  I think he'll make an excellent VP if he doesn't get the nomination.  Our brothers, Fred Thompson and Ron Paul, didn't come off so well.  I didn't think Sen Thompson had a firm grasp of the issues...and Rep Paul seemed angry for some reason (not at us, but at the world).  I spoke with Ron Paul before and after he spoke and he's truly a very dedicated servant to our nation, but his views on the war, in my opinion, are way off the charts!!  No matter, just being there and being able to speak with them and shake their hands was an honor, and I won't soon forget it.
You all should be receiving a letter and other information from Tim Phillips, President of AFP, thanking you for attending the summit.  He's also going to talk about an interactive CD AFP is producing that has all the presidential speeches, pictures, events, etc on it.  I know you'll want to have one!  So, watch for that letter coming soon...
To see many more of the photos from the conference, please go to www.afpOK.org and click on OK Blog on the bar.  We've posted many photos...and most of you are in them!  Take a look...Also, if have any photos you want us to post on our website, please send them to me.  I know I took over 100 or so and most of you were clicking away just as I was.  So forward them if you can.
As you know, AFP was on Fox, CNN, CNBC and many newspapers around the world...even Rush Limbaugh was talking about us.  Pick your flavor, because the articles ranged from NY Times, London's Financial Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, to the Daily Oklahoman!  Well, I've posted about 30 of those articles below and a couple of TV shows like CNBC with Neil Cavuto (TV: if I can find them...if not I'll send them later).  The articles are impressive...so take a look.  They make for good reading...and it's good to see how others viewed what was going on while we were there!  Enjoy.
Before I go, I want to announce to everyone that I'll be bringing Mrs Pam Pollard onboard AFP-OK's staff.  It's not a done deal yet but we're in serious negotiations and it's very likely to happen.  So, please welcome Pam as the Assistant State Director for Americans for Prosperity Foundation in Oklahoma!  We expect great things from Pam and she's the perfect person for the very fluid environment AFP lives in!!  Welcome Pam!
Again, thank you all for coming with me and continue to support and have fun with AFP-OK!

All the best!!!
