Union Leader: Anti-Tax Group Forms Granite State Chapter

CONCORD — Americans for Prosperity, a national anti-tax group, announced yesterday that it is forming a New Hampshire chapter.

AFP will organize a grassroots effort to oppose increases in state taxes.

"We're drawing a line in the sand against more tax hikes," AFP state director Corey Lewandowski said. Raising taxes will hurt the state economy, raise prices and cut into employment growth, he said.

The group plans to support local government spending limits and to keep a close watch on public employee pension costs. At the federal level, AFP has worked to cut earmarks in the budget and to slow the move toward expensive measures that address climate change.

New Hampshire's AFP chapter will be the 22nd in the country, four years after the organization was formed out of a split within the Citizens for a Sound Economy group.
