Dear Arizona Taxpayer:
First: If you have not already done so, please sign up today for our Defending the American Dream Summit, hosted by the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th. The Summit will be held at the Shriner Auditorium, at 202 and 40th Street in Phoenix, and the family-friendly tethered hot-air balloon rides will take place in the vacant lot adjacent to the Shriner facility.

Last Saturday, your AFP Arizona director went into what might be called “enemy territory” (Progressive radio) to talk about Arizona’s budget crisis and to debate with ASU professor David Wells about the new Hoffman-Rex study, which blames the Napolitano spending deficit on tax cuts, and suggests increasing taxes as a solution.
Of course, the pro-tax increase study has been getting a ton of press coverage:

Here was our short rebuttal to the study:

The radio show was Desert Politics, which airs every Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on 1480 AM, and is hosted by Todd Landfried, who tends to run a very civil discussion of policy issues. You can download the show (and play it using QuickTime) by going to this website, and scrolling down for the November 15 show:

In case you don’t make it to the end of the hour, here is the closing exchange:
Landfried: What do you think is going to happen in these budget negotiations… What do you think the governor will do?
Jenney: Governor Napolitano, or Governor Brewer?
Landfried: Well, we still have Janet for right now.
Jenney: I think she’s going to get off the Titanic as it slips under the water. I think Obama’s got a life boat for her, and if I were her, I’d probably get off the ship.
Landfried: Well, you heard it here. Tom Jenney’s kicking Janet out the door…
Last note: Having steered the state into the deficit iceberg, Capt. Napolitano has called on Congress for a fiscal bailout. AZ FEC’s Steve Voeller has a great take on that in his press release today: http://azfec.org/press/pr/pr-11-19-08.pdf
