Organizers were impressed with attendance Saturday at the second La Crosse area Tea Party to draw attention to lower taxes, smaller government and individual liberty.

About 400 people attended the event at Copeland Park. “We never would have seen these numbers (attending) in the past,” said Mark Block, regional director for Americans for Prosperity.

“I think citizens don’t think elected officials are listening to what they are concerned about in Wisconsin,” Block said.

There are tea parties going on July 4th in the cities of Manitowoc, Germantown, La Crosse, Superior, Fort Atkinson, Antigo, Mayville, Wausau, Eagle River, New Richmond, Janesville, and in Vernon and Burnett county. MILWAUKEE – As Governor Doyle continues to propose tax increases, free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity is bringing campaign icon “Joe the Plumber” to the Badger State on June 25-26 as part of its Wisconsin Prosperity Tour.

“Joe the Plumber,” who gained notoriety during the 2008 presidential campaign as a no-nonsense conservative voice, will help spread the message that Wisconsin elected officials need to tighten their belts just like Wisconsin taxpayers are forced to do.
