As the debt ceiling debate continues, politicians in Washington should look at the crisis as an opportunity to change our path. Leaders should reject the unsustainable deficit spending and ever-growing federal budgets that brought about this problem in the first place. Instead, we should embrace a sustainable fiscal path that cuts government spending and gives priority to hard working American families.
Unfortunately, however, President Obama so far has chosen exactly the opposite path. In budget negotiations, the President has insisted that a debt ceiling resolution include at least $1 trillion in new taxes. This is the wrong medicine in today’s environment.

MILWAUKEE —The Wisconsin chapter of the grassroots free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-WI) today applauded No Climate Tax pledge signers for their primary victories and for advancing to the November general election.
The following No Climate Tax pledge signers will be on the November ballot:
- Gubernatorial nominee Scott Walker
- Lieutenant gubernatorial nominee Rebecca Kleefisch
- U.S. Senate nominee Ron Johnson
- U.S. House nominee Chad Lee (2nd District)
- U.S. House nominee Dan Kapanke (3rd District)
- U.S. House nominee Dan Sebring (4th District)
- U.S. House nominee Sean Duffy (7th District)
- U.S. House nominee Reid Ribble (8th District)
- Numerous state lawmakers and candidates for state office
