As the debt ceiling debate continues, politicians in Washington should look at the crisis as an opportunity to change our path. Leaders should reject the unsustainable deficit spending and ever-growing federal budgets that brought about this problem in the first place. Instead, we should embrace a sustainable fiscal path that cuts government spending and gives priority to hard working American families.

Unfortunately, however, President Obama so far has chosen exactly the opposite path. In budget negotiations, the President has insisted that a debt ceiling resolution include at least $1 trillion in new taxes. This is the wrong medicine in today’s environment.

MILWAUKEE —The Wisconsin chapter of the grassroots free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-WI) today applauded No Climate Tax pledge signers for their primary victories and for advancing to the November general election.
