MADISON — Just hours before the Governor's Task Force on Global Warming is set to hold its first public hearing, respected civil rights leader Roy Innis, Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, spoke at an Americans for Prosperity (AFP) news conference on the harm global warming policies pose to minorities by driving up the cost and availability of energy. AFP Wisconsin Director Mark Block also delivered comments at the event, announcing the watchdog group's plan to monitor the Task Force and point out the economic consequences of policies that emerge from its findings.

MADISON — Just hours before the Governor's Task Force on Global Warming is set to meet, respected civil rights leader Roy Innis, Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, will speak on the harm global warming policies pose for minorities at an Americans for Prosperity (AFP) news conference. In addition to the 11:15 a.m. news conference in the State Capitol's Assembly Parlor Room, Mr. Innis will deliver testimony at the 4:00 p.m. meeting of the Governor's Task Force on Global Warming, with a specific emphasis on highlighting the dangerous trend toward eco-imperialism in global warming policy-making.

Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin supports transparency of government spending at every level. State Representatives Robin Vos and Bill Kramer; and Senator Bob Wirch have taken the first step toward achieving this goal by spearheading Assembly Bill 862 (AB 862) — the government checkbook and disclosure act. AB 862 requires the Department of Administration to create a database and website of state expenditures over $100.00 so taxpayers can see exactly where their dollars are being spent. It also requires state agency grants and contracts to be available for inspection through the internet by 2009.
