Americans For Prosperity-North Carolina State Director Dallas Woodhouse today commended State Senator Larry Shaw on his years of service to the state after he announced his retirement from the Legislature.
"Senator Shaw stood up for North Carolina's children every time he spoke out in favor of giving them greater education choices through public charter schools. He also embodies the vitrue of civilitiy in public discourse that is increasingly rare in Raleigh today", Woodhouse said.

On Wednesday, Americans for Prosperity will be hosting watch parties across the country with an opportunity to discuss and respond to the President’s remarks. We will look at the real state of the North Carolina economy and the future of the Obama-Perdue agenda. We will have an intimate town hall meeting starting at 8:00 PM and then we will watch the State of the Union Address at 9:00 PM with analysis to follow.

AFP Gets Sanford Business Privilege Tax Repealed
Congratulations to our Lee County Chapter who did a fantastic job getting the Sanford City Council to repeal the controversial Business Privilege Tax. Our local leaders have worked for two years and the victory was a long time in coming. Our Lee County members worked hard to educate the public and make this an important issue in the recent city elections.

What a year 2009 has been. Our free enterprise system, which made us the most powerful and prosperous country in history, has been under constant assault. We have all been astounded by the sheer number of bad bills and initiatives coming out of Congress and the NC legislature. Individual economic freedom, which we cherish, is under attack.
